  • Altar Servers — Altar Servers are a vital part of the liturgical ministry.  They are vital because altar servers perform not just a functional role but a symbolic role and symbolism is the language of worship. The role of the Altar Server is to assist the Priest in the celebration of the liturgy during Mass.Some of the Altar Server responsibilities include: Caring for the altar candles, bearing the cross in the entrance procession, assisting with holy water, wine and offertory gifts at Mass, and assist the priest or celebrant as necessary.  

  • Lectors — God speaks to us in His word and Christ speaks to us in the Gospel. The readings are to be listened to reverently by everyone as an important part of the Liturgy. Lectors are privileged to present this Word to the assembly. The mission of the lectors entails a great responsibility when they serve as a bridge between the Scriptures and the community. 

Academics

  • Student Advisory Council — The SAC is a student led organization that is committed to providing a voice for the students of Portsmouth Catholic Regional School by representing and presenting the interests of the students to the administrative and policy making bodies of the school.  Grades 4-8 have 2 representatives on the SAC.  In addition to the representatives, there are positions of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer which are held by students in grades 6-8.

  • National Junior Honor Society — National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is more than just honor roll.  Rules for membership are based upon a student’s outstanding performance in the areas of: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, Character, and Citizenship.  These criteria for selection form the foundation upon which the organization and its activities are built.

Service

  • Safety Patrol — Safety Patrol members assist fellow students with school drop off and pick up procedures.  They walk younger students to class and monitor the hallways before the school day begins. Safety patrol members gain character building skills which include safety awareness, leadership, teamwork, pride, and citizenship.
